A Collaborative Meeting Between the Jordanian Investors Association and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
2025-11-06
The President of the Jordanian Investors Association, Mr. Mujahid Al-Rajabi, along with Engineer Qusai Al-Armouti, received at the association’s headquarters Mr. Ziad Al-Ayoubi, Assistant Head of Mission for Operations at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and Ms. Rania Bakir.
The meeting reaffirmed the continuity of the fruitful partnership between the association and the UNHCR since 2016, highlighting the association’s ongoing commitment to linking industry with academia and enhancing the outcomes of training and employment programs, contributing to the creation of real job opportunities that support the sustainability of the industrial sector.
During the meeting, the situation of Syrian workers returning to Syria and its impact on factories and employers was discussed, along with a review of the results of the joint survey on Syrian labor in Jordanian factories, aimed at monitoring retention rates, departures, and their causes.
A new project was also proposed to train, qualify, and employ returning Syrians, with the UNHCR covering their salaries within Syria. This initiative opens the door for Jordanian factories to benefit from Syrian talent remotely through positions such as sales or digital marketing, as well as opportunities for factories interested in opening branches inside Syria to take advantage of the program.
The meeting also addressed the topic of simplifying rules of origin and exploring export opportunities to European markets.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Mujahid Al-Rajabi expressed the association’s continuous welcome and commitment to cooperation with the UNHCR and its international partners.
